Elena is a partner in the Intellectual Property and Audiovisual Law practice at ECIJA. She has more than 20 years of experience providing comprehensive legal advice in Intellectual Property, Entertainment Law, and digital platforms, with a strong focus on the audiovisual and publishing industries.
Career
Before consolidating her career at ECIJA, Elena gained significant experience in the Spanish audiovisual and publishing sectors. She currently serves as the Secretary of the Spanish National Film Association and actively participates in training and capacity-building programs for professionals in the creative industries.
Her career combines both legal advisory and institutional work, reflecting her commitment to strengthening the intellectual property framework in Spain and supporting the audiovisual ecosystem.
Personal
Alongside her legal practice, Elena is a professor in the Master’s Program in Representation and Management of Artists and Athletes at ISDE (Instituto Superior de Derecho y Economía). She also develops legal reports and training strategies for the protection of intellectual property assets, combining her expertise with a strong educational and institutional commitment.
She holds a Law Degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, which provided the foundation for her specialization in intellectual property and entertainment law.
Experience
Elena has extensive expertise advising throughout the pre-production, production, and post-production process of audiovisual works. She regularly counsels national and international film and television production companies, post-production studios, broadcasters, actors, and technical staff on matters including copyright, media and entertainment law, image rights, music, contract negotiation, and the acquisition and sale of intellectual property rights such as formats, musical works and performances, and distribution rights.
She also has strong experience in litigation, particularly in copyright disputes and cases involving unlawful intrusions into the rights to honor, privacy, and image. In addition, she frequently drafts and negotiates contracts and licenses related to mobile applications, websites, custom software developments, video games, and other digital assets.
