Brant Phillips is chair of the firm’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practice Group and focuses his practice on complex business litigation, healthcare matters, and regulatory proceedings. He regularly serves as lead counsel to public and private companies and their directors in high-stakes arbitrations, securities and shareholder class actions, derivative actions, merger disputes, and business fraud litigation nationwide.

Brant also represents clients in regulatory and administrative proceedings before state and federal agencies, with a particular focus on healthcare and utility matters. He has significant experience advising healthcare providers in certificate of need (CON) hearings and regulatory approvals involving healthcare facilities and services. In addition, he serves as primary counsel to the board of directors of Middle Tennessee Electric, one of the largest electric cooperatives in the United States.

Brant is also routinely engaged to handle appeals of adverse trial and administrative rulings and advises clients on complex public policy and regulatory matters.

Career

Joined Bass, Berry & Sims in 1998. Brant served on the firm’s Executive Committee from 2013-2017 and previously served as co-chair of the firm’s Securities & Shareholder Litigation Practice Group. He represents clients nationwide in complex litigation, healthcare regulatory matters, and administrative proceedings.
