Ty Johnson counsels domestic and international energy clients in offshore wind development and in energy regulatory matters.
Ty advises offshore wind developers and investors regarding the Department of the Interior's offshore leasing and permitting processes and with permits from other agencies necessary for developing offshore wind projects. He also represents offshore wind developers in litigation defending permits and authorizations for offshore wind projects and in litigation to allow the completion of offshore wind projects. Ty advises on the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process and related litigation for energy infrastructure projects, including offshore wind, and his offshore wind experience spans both the Atlantic and Pacific coasts of the United States.
In his energy regulatory practice, Ty advises on the regulatory regimes administered by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the US Department of Energy, as well as other federal and state agencies. He represents energy marketers and transmission owners in matters involving compliance with the Federal Power Act, and he represents clients involved in regulatory litigation before FERC and in related appellate litigation.
Ty was formerly a US naval officer operating submarine nuclear power plants and conducting ship-board operations.
