Sylvia Yi advises public and private companies on government contracts, government contractor mergers and acquisitions, and international trade matters. She represents businesses across a broad range of industries as they navigate contracting, compliance, and regulatory requirements involving federal, state, and local governments.
Sylvia regularly counsels clients on government contracts compliance issues, bid protests, size protests, and government claims. She also has significant experience advising buyers and sellers in mergers and acquisitions involving government contractors, including transaction diligence, regulatory filings, risk assessments, and post-acquisition integration matters.
In addition, Sylvia assists clients with international trade and national security matters, including import and export controls, economic sanctions, anti-bribery compliance, CFIUS reviews, and foreign ownership, control, or influence (FOCI) mitigation.
Career
Rejoined Bass, Berry & Sims in 2024 after serving as Senior Attorney, U.S. Public Sector, at IBM, where she managed post-acquisition integration, regulatory filings, contract negotiations, and government contracts compliance matters. Earlier in her career, she worked on federal procurement training initiatives and completed internships with the Department of Homeland Security and the D.C. Contract Appeals Board.
