Meltem Kodaman practices in the areas of general corporate and securities law, concentrating on derivatives contracts, including interest rate, foreign exchange, equity and commodity products. A member of Eversheds Sutherland (US)'s Corporate Practice Group, Meltem’s derivatives practice represents a broad range of counterparties, including multinational corporations, mutual funds, business development companies, insurance companies, pension plans, government-sponsored agencies, universities, nonprofit corporations and energy companies. Meltem works closely with her clients to develop and structure derivatives transactions and has extensive experience in the negotiation and documentation of derivative transactions across all asset classes.
Meltem advises commercial firms on the regulatory requirements imposed on the derivatives markets by the Dodd-Frank Act as well as European derivatives reform developments, such as European Market Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR) and Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID). Meltem is also active in the firm’s Transactional practice and advises clients engaged in public and private securities offerings. Meltem participates in, and is a member of, several industry groups, including the International Swaps and Derivatives Association, the Futures Industry Association, and the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Derivatives and Futures Law Committee. In 2019, Meltem was recognized in DCA Live’s Emerging Women Leaders in Private Practice.
