Cindy Upchurch

Cindy Upchurch, Atlanta Office Managing Partner of Eversheds Sutherland (US) LLP, Head of the Electric Cooperative Team, and a member of the Finance Practice Group, assists electric cooperative clients and other energy clients with a wide array of financing transactions. With more than 20 years of experience, her work includes first mortgage indentures, secured and unsecured bilateral and syndicated credit facilities, direct and agented private placements, government-guaranteed financings, lease financings of renewable energy projects, acquisition financings of energy projects, sustainable finance (including green loan agreements and sustainability-linked loan agreements), tax-exempt bond transactions, and taxable capital markets transactions. For example, Cindy has negotiated and structured at least 35 debt private placements in an aggregate amount of over $5.5 billion for utility issuers. She also advises clients with respect to Rural Utilities Service (RUS) regulatory and loan program requirements, which includes the structuring of grants and loans available under the New ERA and PACE programs under the Inflation Reduction Act.
