Mauricio Jaramillo Campuzano is a partner at Pérez-Llorca Colombia and heads the Competition department as well as the Technology, Communications & Data Protection practice. Since 1993, he has advised Colombian and multinational companies on antitrust and regulatory matters, including restrictive practices, unfair competition, consumer protection, and merger control, bringing a comprehensive regulatory lens to complex, high-stakes transactions.
Career
Mauricio joined Gómez-Pinzón as a partner in 2000, and, following integration, is a partner at Pérez-Llorca. He is recognised by Chambers Latin America 2025 for both Antitrust & Competition, and Intellectual Property, has been named a Leading Partner by The Legal 500 2025 (TMT, IP, Competition & Antitrust), is a LACCA Thought Leader 2025, and holds distinctions from IP Stars, IAM Patent 1000, and IFLR1000.
Personal
Mauricio is a member of INTA, the Colombian Association of Competition Law (ACDC), Cecolda, the Colombian Chamber of Franchises, and the International Bar Association (IBA). He holds a law degree from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Bogotá; a specialisation in Commercial Law from Universidad de los Andes, Bogotá; and a Master’s in Public Administration from the Deutsche Hochschule für Verwaltungswissenschaften Speyer, Germany. He is fluent in Spanish, English, and German.
Work Highlights
Mauricio has led merger-control strategies before Colombia’s Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (SIC) in headline matters such as JetBlue’s acquisition of Spirit, Grupo Gilinski’s takeover of Grupo Nutresa, and Inchcape’s acquisition of Derco. His competition mandates include advising Partners Telecom – WOM in the radio spectrum auction, and acting for companies including Tetra Pak, GSK, Kimberly-Clark, Procafecol, and Bavaria. He has also handled the Colombian competition aspects of cross-border deals including AT&T/Time Warner, ExxonMobil’s divestment to Copec/Terpel, and Unilever’s acquisition of brands from Quala, and he advised Globant on its acquisition of Grupo Assa.
