Catalina Arango Hoyos is a Senior Associate in the Intellectual Property and Competition practice at Pérez-Llorca. Since beginning her career in 2005, she has focused on the management and administration of industrial property portfolios in Colombia and abroad, advising clients across diverse sectors on intellectual property regulation, copyright, competition law, and related litigation. She also advises companies on expansion strategies, including franchise models, and provides ongoing support in the structuring and protection of intangible assets.
Career
Prior to joining Pérez-Llorca, Catalina developed her career at specialised law firms and consultancies in intellectual property. Over nearly two decades, she has built a practice that combines technical expertise in IP with practical strategies for litigation prevention, portfolio management, and corporate expansion.
Personal
Catalina is a member of the International Bar Association (IBA). Catalina holds specialisations in Business Law, Civil Procedural Law, and Intellectual Property, Copyright and New Technologies from Universidad Externado de Colombia, as well as a specialisation in Human Development Management from Universidad Eafit. She graduated in Law from Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana. She works in Spanish and English.
Work Highlights
Catalina has provided comprehensive legal support to leading national and international companies. She has advised Disney and TIS Productions on intellectual property matters related to audiovisual productions and supported major corporations such as Bancolombia, Celsia, Almacenes Éxito, and M.P. Galagro in the management of trademark portfolios, copyright protection, and strategies to prevent anticompetitive practices. Her experience includes designing innovation systems, notably for ISA, and implementing Legal Design workshops that integrate user-centred approaches into legal processes.
