John S Pruitt

John Pruitt guides insurance companies in every aspect of their business. In more than 35+ years of private practice, John has advised property/casualty and life insurance clients on formation and licensing, regulatory compliance, acquisitions, dispositions and restructurings. John has represented clients in investigations and enforcement actions, including matters in which clients face action simultaneously in multiple forums – state insurance departments, state attorneys general, SEC and US Department of Justice. Substantive issues have involved insurance sales and marketing practices, agent and broker conduct, reinsurance, underwriting and rating. He counsels clients on governance, insurer investments, financial and market conduct examinations and Insurance Holding Company Act matters. He regularly teams with litigation and transactional colleagues to provide comprehensive, strategic solutions for clients. He also drafts, advises and negotiates reinsurance contracts. He is a recognized thought leader in insurance regulation and actively monitors emerging issues in US domestic and international regulation of insurance.

John also leads the US team that covers insurance industry issues at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and insurance industry trade associations. John previously served as Practice Group Leader for the Eversheds Insurance Transactions and Products group and currently serves on the Firm’s executive committee.
