He has extensive experience as lead trial counsel and also regularly represents his clients at the appellate level.
John focuses his practice on complex multijurisdictional commercial and intellectual property disputes, parallel actions in court and arbitration, global enforcement of and defense against arbitration awards and judgments, challenging jurisdictional questions, foreign sovereign immunity issues, government contracts, Section 1782 matters involving US discovery to support international proceedings, competition litigation, and investor-state disputes.
He represents clients in aviation/aerospace, defense and security, technology, energy, transportation, government contracting, manufacturing, health care, finance, and consumer electronics. John has handled matters spanning more than 45 countries across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Latin America, Africa and Australia.
John also has significant experience counseling clients in high-profile cross-border transactions and due diligence, including advising on international contracting best practices, risk mitigation techniques, dispute resolution provisions, intellectual property licensing and transfers, joint ventures, teaming agreements, and working with representatives and consultants. He has provided in-house general counsel services to the North American arms of multiple global businesses.
