Scott Thomas has practiced environmental law for well over 35 years. His practice spans all environmental media, including air, water, soil and groundwater, and involves representing current and former property owners/operators, tenants, buyers, sellers and lenders in wide range of environmental transactions, regulatory matters, dispute resolution, and enforcement actions. He has particular experience related to brownfield redevelopment, solid and hazardous waste management, and site remediation. He has negotiated numerous Brownfield Agreements with the TDEC, the Tennessee environmental agency. In addition, Scott has drafted, lobbied and/or commented on numerous legislative bills and environmental regulations. He has appeared before environmental regulatory boards for client advocacy and appeal of state enforcement actions. Scott is also a trained mediator and specializes in environmental dispute mediation.
Joined Bass, Berry & Sims in 1982. He has been a member of the firm since 1988.
