Band 2
Provided by Penelope Edgar
Penelope works with farmers, estate owners and other rural businesses and, with other members of the team, undertakes all aspects of non-contentious rural property work. The firm's agricultural team provides a broad range of advice on dispute resolutions; formation of partnership and other farming agreements; tax planning for farming families; development and promotion agreements; renewable energy projects and more. Penelope's background was in pure commercial property so she particularly enjoys advising farming clients who have diversified their offering to include commercial units and renewables.
Penny qualified in 1993 having completed a degree in French and Italian at the University of Birmingham followed by the law conversion course. She worked in the City, another large Kent firm and in-house for a London council before joining Thomson Snell & Passmore in 2015, becoming a partner in 2019 and head of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs team in 2022.
Penny is a fellow of the Agricultural Law Association.

Penelope is very efficient and quick to respond. She grasped the intricacies of the agreement and was able to explain them to us and work hard on our behalf to obtain the best result.
She is easy to discuss projects with and I find that through discussion, we arrive where I want to be via the correct legal path.
She's brilliant. She gets back to us very quickly on all the issues and she's brilliant at explaining all the different issues.
