Practice Areas
Leading partner of the mining, venture capital, international funds and private equity departments and member of the corporate and M&A, capital markets and agribusiness practices. He specializes in mining project development, project finance, and corporate and financing structuring for mining project development, as well as mining agreements and regulatory matters and environmental permits.
In venture capital matters, he represents local and foreign VC investors, start-ups, CVC funds and incubators in the legal structuring of funds or investment vehicles, in the development and execution of internationalization plans, international M&A VC transactions, and in financing rounds. In addition, he actively works in structuring investment funds, and representing local and international fund managers.
Career
He worked as foreign associate with Global Law Office, Beijing and Shanghai, China (2005) and is a member of the board of directors of several companies and associations including the Chilean- Pacific Foundation, Administradora Mater, Administradora Bridge, Empresa Eléctrica Blanco, Aaktei Energía S.A., Lácteos Matthei, and Colegio San Lorenzo.
He is also very active in sectoral associations: he is member of the Mining Committee of CESCO, of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation, and ACAFI (Chilean Association of Investment Fund Managers).
In the academic field, he is former professor of the “Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital” course for the Master in Laws, at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He regularly participates as speaker at the mining sessions of Universidad de Chile, especially in lectures focused on the importance of the lithium industry in Chile and was professor of “Law in Asia” and “Law and Investment in Asia”, at the Diego Portales University and of “Chinese Law” at Universidad de Chile.
