Practice Areas
María Paz is a partner and a member of the mining and metals area. In addition, she is a member of the energy and natural resources and environment departments. She specializes in mining, energy, water, and environmental matters, especially in the acquisition, development and operation of mining projects. She assists local and international corporations in complex litigation, permitting, property and land issues and in their relationship with authorities.
Career
In the academic field, she is a Professor of Mining and Environmental Law at Universidad de Chile and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and has various publications on mining and environmental law.
María Paz is a member of the board of Consejo Minero and the Chilean-Australian Chamber of Commerce (AUSCHAM). Additionally, she is a member of the Steering Committee of The Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law (formerly, Rocky Mountain Law Foundation). In addition, she is a member of the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC); Women in Senior Management Network (REDMAD); Women in Mining International; Women in Mining Chile and the Chilean Bar Association.
