María Paz is a partner and a member of the mining and metals area. In addition, she is a member of the natural resources and environmental law departments. She specializes in mining, natural resources, and environmental matters, with a focus on strategic planning, development, and operation of projects, as well as the acquisition and commercial transactions of natural resource projects and companies.
Additionally, she advises both domestic and international companies on complex litigation, permitting processes, land and territorial matters, and engagement with local communities, indigenous groups, and regulatory authorities.
María Paz is a member of the Steering Committee of The Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law (formerly, Rocky Mountain Law Foundation) and of the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC); Women in Senior Management Network (REDMAD); Women in Mining International; Women in Mining Chile and the Chilean Bar Association.
In the academic field, she is a Professor of Mining and Environmental Law at Universidad de Chile and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and has various publications on mining and environmental law.
