Nick is internationally recognized for his experience in patent procurement, strategic patent portfolio management, and licensing in the medical device start-up space. He has advised dozens of national and international venture capital firms and hundreds of start-up companies in advancing their medical technologies to the forefronts of their respective fields. His clients have been acquired by leading strategics for more than $3 billion USD. Nick also serves as lead trial counsel, litigating patent and trade secret matters in federal district courts throughout the U.S., before the International Trade Commission, in contested cases pending before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and in appeals before the Federal Circuit. Nick has litigated a vast array of technologies, including medical devices, electronics, computers, wireless communications, nuclear fuel, anti-malware, vibro-acoustics, and biometric software. Nick’s 37 years of experience have earned him peer recognition, including multiple years in San Diego Super Lawyers, The Best Lawyers in America®, Chambers, and an AV Preeminent ranking in Martindale Hubbell.
