Mr. Cao practiced law with Clifford Chance in Shanghai for many years before he joined Han Kun Law Offices in 2009. Mr. Cao focuses his practice on private equity and venture capital investment, PRC and offshore capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, foreign direct investment, and general corporate matters. He has extensive experience handling legal as well as commercial issues relating to a wide variety of business activities.

Mr. Cao has represented and provided legal services to numerous venture capital funds, private equity funds, start-up companies, and multinational companies in relation to their investment and financing projects in China. The matters which Mr. Cao handles primarily include Chinese and overseas venture capital and private equity fund investments, venture financing and securities offerings of Chinese high-tech companies, Chinese and foreign investor acquisitions of assets or equity in Chinese companies, restructuring and alignment of different businesses of Chinese and foreign investors in China, research and analysis of regulatory and policy changes, legal assistance to clients on strategic planning, and advice on enterprise operations. Mr. Cao represents clients across diverse industries, including biopharma, healthcare, TMT, infrastructure, education, finance, industrial product manufacturing, retail, transportation, and entertainment.
