Song SHEN is a partner in Jingtian & Gongcheng’s energy practice group based in the Beijing office. Song Shen, with 20 years’ experience in energy sector, is ranked as a leading lawyer in China: Energy and Natural Resources by Chambers from 2019 to 2025.
For almost 20 years, Song has represented some Chinese leading energy companies in connection with energy sector transactions in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Central Asia, Southern Asia, Latin America and Europe.
Shen Song graduated from Wuhan University Law School with an LLB degree and from Georgetown University Law Center with an LLM degree (Dean’s List). Song is qualified in China and New York State.
From 2024-2025, Song represented some Chinese energy companies in developing some significant energy projects overseas, including:
(1) Kashkadarya 500MW Solar Power Project and Bukhara 500 MW Solar Power Project developed by China Energy Overseas Investment Co. Ltd., which are the largest solar power plants in Uzbekistan that are invested by Chinese companies and the first power projects that achieved commercial operation invested by Chinese companies. Kashkadarya 500MW Solar Power Project and Bukhara 500 MW Solar Power Project are the first overseas new energy project financing deal that is fully insured by Sinosure, fully funded by a Chinese banking syndicate, and denominated in RMB;
(2) Lochin 150 MW Battery Energy Storage System Project and Ozbekiston 150 MW Battery Energy Storage System Project developed by China Energy Overseas Investment Co. Ltd., the first energy storage projects in Uzbekistan that are invested by Chinese companies and the first energy storage projects that will commence commercial operation;
(3) Navoi Integrated Energy Project developed by China Energy Overseas Investment Co. Ltd., the first integrated renewable energy project that includes solar, wind and energy storage power plants in Uzbekistan and Central Asia;
(4) 500 MW Jizzakh and Samarkand Wind Power Project developed by Universal Energy, the first wind power project that is located in mountain areas in Uzbekistan.
(5) Tashkent 100 MW Gas Power and Heat Production Project developed by China National Technical Imp. & Exp. Corporation, the first power project that utilizes containerized gas generator sets in Uzbekistan and the first energy project that combines gas thermal power generation and heat production in Uzbekistan;
(6) 100 MW Karangkates Floating Photovoltaic Solar Power Plant developed by GD Power in Indonesia, the largest floating solar power project in Indonesia;
and (7) 2GW Sadawi solar power project developed by GD Power in Saudi Arabia, the first new energy investment in the Middle East by GD Power and China Energy Investment Corporation and one of the largest solar PV projects in the region in which GD Power for the first time utilized a hybrid financing structure combining an equity bridge loan with project financing for an energy project.
