Work Highlights
Real estate developer: advising and acting as counsel for a subsidiary of a well-known real estate developer company in Thailand. The client is in the process of constructing a high-rise condominium in a metropolitan area of Bangkok. After completing 10% of the project, a local family asserted ownership over the public road in front of this project and claimed that the client used the road without their permission or authorization. They sought damages estimated at approximately THB 100 million.
Major Thai insurer: provided a legal opinion to and representing a subsidiary of a leading global insurance group headquartered in Japan, as a ship repairer's liability insurer, for a claim brought against it by a subrogated hull insurer of a shipowner for a total loss of the vessel (due to a capsize). This occurred while the vessel was in the shipyard of the ship repairer who is an insured under the ship repairer's liability insurance policy. This case also involved arbitral proceedings between the shipowner and ship repairer which are being undertaken in Singapore in parallel.
