Matt Curley is co-chair of the firm’s Healthcare Fraud & Abuse Task Force and represents healthcare providers and other clients in internal and governmental investigations, enforcement actions, and related civil and criminal proceedings. His practice focuses on healthcare fraud and abuse matters, including False Claims Act litigation, government investigations, compliance issues, and regulatory enforcement matters.
Matt has significant experience representing clients in matters involving the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General, and various state agencies. His clients include hospitals and health systems, ambulatory surgery centers, physician practices, skilled nursing facilities, hospice providers, home health providers, and other healthcare organizations.
Drawing on his experience as a former Assistant U.S. Attorney and Civil Chief for the Middle District of Tennessee, Matt advises clients on complex healthcare enforcement matters, internal investigations, and litigation strategy. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Vanderbilt University Law School, where he teaches Healthcare Fraud and Abuse.
Joined Bass, Berry & Sims in 1999. Previously served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney and Civil Chief in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Tennessee. Matt also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Royce C. Lamberth of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and the Honorable Michael S. Kanne of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
