I’m Regional Head of Medical Negligence for the South (Bristol, Cardiff, Southampton and Cambridge) and head of our Bristol Medical Negligence team.

I work closely with people and families who’ve been affected by medical negligence, whether that’s care provided by a hospital trust, GP, or private doctor. I have a particular focus on cases involving pregnancy and birth, supporting both mothers and babies who have been harmed at such an important and vulnerable time.

Over the years, I’ve dealt with many cases involving delayed meningitis diagnoses, as well as supporting families through inquests and fatal claims after the loss of a loved one.

I'm listed in the highest band for clinical negligence lawyers in the South West by Chambers and Partners (one of the biggest legal guides in the UK) and have been listed for over 15 years. I'm also ranked as a Leading Partner for clinical negligence in Legal 500, another of the UK's most respected guides, who state: "Julie Lewis is incredibly impressive. She combines a first-rate legal mind with a huge range of experience which she is able to pass on to her team. She is a standout star."

My years of working with clients whose lives have been devastated by negligent treatment, and seeing the effect it’s had on those closest to them, have helped me to shape a compassionate and determined approach that I bring to each case. I treat each claim as the unique and personal situation it is, giving tailored advice that I believe is best suited to the individual’s case.

For many clients, the most important thing is simply understanding what went wrong. The independent medical evidence we obtain often helps provide those answers and a sense of clarity.

Some of the people I represent are living with severe, life-changing injuries. It’s incredibly important to me to secure compensation that not only recognises what they’ve been through, but also funds the care, rehabilitation, and home adaptations they need. This helps to improve their quality of life and ease financial pressures moving forward.
