Julie Bédard is head of Skadden’s International Litigation and Arbitration Group for the Americas. Trained in both civil and common law, she focuses on complex and high stakes international litigation and arbitration, including M&A, shareholder, joint venture, technology, energy, mining, oil & gas, construction, health sciences and reinsurance disputes as well as investor-state proceedings. She serves both as counsel and arbitrator in international proceedings. She also advises clients on dispute resolution and investor-state strategies, regulatory enforcement, governing law, jurisdiction, arbitration agreements, force majeure and changed circumstances, as well as extraterritoriality and international judgment enforcement issues. Ms. Bédard speaks English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.

Professional Memberships

Julie Bédard serves as counsel and arbitrator in international proceedings under the auspices of the International Chamber of Commerce, the London Court of International Arbitration, the American Arbitration Association, the International Centre for Dispute Resolution and the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes, in addition to UNCITRAL arbitrations. Ms. Bédard is notably a vice-president to the ICC International Court of Arbitration (2024-2027 term), as well as a member of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement dispute settlement panel, the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA) Governing Board, the Shanghai Arbitration Commission, the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board International’s Panel of International Arbitrators and the Câmara do Mercado – CAM Chambers list of arbitrators.
