Johannes is head of Bech-Bruun's department for dispute resolution and maritime and transport law.
Johannes is known for his solution-orientated approach and profound understanding of the client's needs, and he is also an experienced litigator with a right of audience before the Danish Supreme Court.
With many years of experience in maritime and transport law, Johannes Grove Nielsen is recognised both nationally and internationally as one of the leading Danish shipping lawyers, specialising in all aspects of maritime, transport and offshore law. He primarily advises large Danish and foreign shipowners, P&I clubs and insurance companies. He is part of Bech-Bruun's Cross-Border Insolvency Shipping Team and is particularly experienced in US Chapter 11 and 15 rules. Furthermore, as Denmark's first practising maritime lawyer, he holds an MBA in Shipping & Logistics from CBS.
In addition, Johannes specialises in international arbitration as well as disputes regarding the general law of damages and commercial law, D&O liability cases, post-M&A disputes and insolvency law disputes. Johannes has also conducted a large number of cases relating to arrest, injunctions and orders in the area of maritime law as well as civil proceedings.
Johannes is also chairman of Bech-Bruun's International Business Committee, and with his strong international focus, Johannes is currently involved in multiple international organisations. He has received much international recognition and is Immediate Past Chair of the Maritime & Transport Law Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA) and Denmark's only executive member of the Comité Maritime International (CMI). In 2012, Berlingske Business nominated him in the Talent100.
