Chris is a highly experienced employment lawyer and is based in our Edinburgh office. He advises HR professionals, senior managers and business owners on the full range of employment law issues. This includes recruitment, preparing contracts and policies, performance and absence management, avoiding discrimination and navigating safely through organisational change in all its forms. Where the employment relationship comes to an end, Chris helps to ensure this is handled carefully and with the minimum of risk. He also assists senior individuals on the negotiation of their contracts, handling disputes and on exit strategies, including settlement agreements.

His clients operate in local government, education, financial services, manufacturing, professional services, healthcare, recruitment, technology and many other sectors.

As well as being an employment specialist, Chris also has extensive experience in professional regulatory law and in the conduct of inquiries, particularly in the public sector. He is also a regular speaker at conferences and training events.

Chris is recognised by clients for his pragmatism, straightforward approach and commercial focus. He is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association, the Scottish Discrimination Lawyers Association and he has been accredited by The Law Society of Scotland as an employment law specialist since 2005. He is also an external examiner in Employment Law for the University of Dundee and chairman of Fife College Foundation.
