Personal

Simone is a Partner in our Edinburgh Commercial Real Estate team, specialising in construction law.

Simone advises on all aspects of non-contentious construction, from the planning/procurement stage to onwards. She can assist with drafting and negotiating all forms of construction documentation, including building contracts, sub-contracts, professional appointments, collateral warranties and guarantees. Simone also regularly advises on the construction elements of development agreements, agreements for lease and sale/purchase agreements.

Simone has experience of working with both standard form and bespoke construction contracts, and has an in-depth knowledge of all of the major construction industry standard form contracts, including JCT/SBCC, NEC and ICE. She also counsels clients on dispute avoidance, assisting clients to nip disagreements in the bud before they become disputes.

Whilst Simone primarily acts for businesses, she also has experience of advising individuals with a construction law need, having advised individuals building their own homes on the terms of their contracts with contractors and designers. Simone also has experience of advising homeowners in connection with the Scottish Government’s Safer Buildings Accord, which is intended to ensure that developers remediate life-critical fire safety defects in buildings whilst protecting homeowners from the costs of remediation.

Simone is ranked as a Leading Partner for Construction in the Legal 500 Scotland Guide and is also a ranked practitioner for Construction in Chambers and Partners.
