Practice Areas

Chad Marriott leads the firm’s wind energy subgroup and serves as counsel to sponsors, owners, and investors in the development, sale, acquisition, and financing of renewable generation projects throughout the United States. Representing project developers and sponsors across the renewable energy landscape, his practice focuses on equity transactions including both buy- and sell-side project M&A, joint ventures, cash equity investments and sell-downs, and tax equity. Chad has led teams advising on the acquisition of historic wind assets for repowering and served as lead counsel on transactions for both operational and development-stage wind, solar, hydro, and battery energy storage projects in the United States and Canada. His broad experience in finance, M&A, and state and federal utility regulation has proven valuable to clients at the various stages of project development, construction, operation, and repowering.

In 2021, Chad was named to A Word About Wind’s Top 100 Legal Power List 2020, a list of the 100 most influential lawyers working globally on the financing of wind energy projects. His background makes him an in-demand author and speaker on a wide range of topics in renewable energy nationwide and led to his appointment as an Adjunct Instructor of Renewable Energy Law and Regulation for the University of Oklahoma’s Executive MBA program through the Michael F. Price College of Business in 2022-2023.
