Practice Areas
Stefano Grassani mainly specialises in antitrust law in its various national and EU dimensions, including merger control, agreements, abuse of dominant position and State aid. His practice also covers unfair commercial practices and EU law more broadly, advising clients in both public enforcement proceedings and private enforcement actions (follow-on and stand-alone litigation).
More in details, Stefano has developed significant experience in distribution-related matters — both within and outside selective distribution systems — covering the distribution of goods and services in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, automotive, consumer goods and fashion. He is also regularly involved in complex merger control proceedings (including Phase II cases), the application of modern theories of abuse of dominance, cartels (including leniency applications) as well as in all aspects of consumer protection law (unfair trading practices).
Before joining the Firm, Stefano gained professional experience at leading Italian law firms.
He graduated with honors from the Università degli Studi di Bologna in 1989. He later obtained an LL.M. (Master of Laws) from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (USA), and a Master in EC Competition Law (Post-Graduate Diploma in EC Competition Law) from the University of London, King’s College.
Admitted to practice since 1993, he has been a member of the Milan Bar since 2003 and is qualified to appear before the Italian Supreme Court. Since 1991 he has also been a member of the New York Bar and is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States. He is the author of numerous publications on antitrust matters in both Italian and international journals and a frequent speaker at conferences and seminars on antitrust topics.
