Sam Kamyans is a partner in the Tax Practice Group of Kirkland & Ellis LLP specializing in federal partnership taxation in the energy space. He is well regarded for his pragmatic and commercial approach to structuring cutting-edge and unique transactions to monetize federal income tax credits and enable parties to invest in, finance, divest, or acquire solar, battery storage, wind, carbon capture, clean fuels, and other energy transition projects. He advises leading sponsors and investors, including domestic and international private equity funds, in connection with structuring transactions to optimize each party’s commercial and tax goals.

Sam frequently publishes articles that industry participants and financing parties rely upon to structure their deals, and has lectured on partnership tax and energy transition at Georgetown University Law Center and Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
