Ryan’s practice focuses on assisting clients with the design, implementation and compliance initiatives of qualified retirement plans, executive compensation arrangements, severance programs, and health and welfare arrangements. In addition, a significant portion of Ryan’s practice is dedicated to representing clients in the employee benefits and executive compensation aspects of mergers, acquisitions, financings and other types of transactions, including post-transaction benefits integration.
Ryan regularly counsels employers regarding employee benefit plan administration issues, plan communications, and correction of qualified plan defects under the Internal Revenue Service’s Employee Plans Compliance Resolution System and Department of Labor’s Voluntary Fiduciary Correction Program.
In addition, Ryan provides benefits-related advice with respect to compliance with the Internal Revenue Code, ERISA fiduciary matters, healthcare reform laws, and HIPAA privacy laws applicable to health and welfare plans. Ryan also has experience facilitating and guiding clients with regard to governmental agency enforcement activity, including the Department of Labor, Internal Revenue Service, and Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation.
