Manuel A Abascal

Manny Abascal is a partner in the Litigation & Trial Practice of Latham & Watkins and is based in Los Angeles. Manny handles complex and high-stakes litigation and government investigation matters for clients in several industries.

Over his 20-year career at Latham, he has represented clients from several industries in their most important and challenging legal matters. He has been recognized by many organizations for his professional and community achievements, including receiving the Learned Hand Award from the American Jewish Committee, a professional achievement award from the Mexican American Bar Foundation, and a pro bono service award from the Los Angeles County Bar Association.

Prior to joining Latham in 2000, Manny was an assistant United States attorney in Los Angeles, where he prosecuted and tried numerous and diverse fraud cases.

Manny has played a leading role in various nonprofit and philanthropic organizations in Los Angeles, including serving as the founding Chairman of Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital, a safety net hospital based in Watts/Willowbrook, and as a director and board member of the Altadena Recovery and Rebuild Corporation.
