Career
Luiza specializes in commercial transactions involving intangible and technological assets, focusing on intellectual property rights such as trademarks, patents, industrial designs, software, copyrights, confidentiality, unfair competition, advertising, innovation, and technology development/transfer. Her practice extends to the resolution of legal, administrative, and arbitration disputes in these areas.
She holds extensive experience representing clients before the Brazilian National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) and the International Bureau of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Luiza offers particular expertise in advising clients across multiple jurisdictions, including international agreements like the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), the Madrid Protocol for trademarks, and the Hague Agreement for industrial design protection. Her work involves protecting Brazilian assets abroad and foreign assets in Brazil.
Her legal practice also encompasses international trade and data protection areas. In this context, Luiza has been involved in projects related to the strategic defense of Brazilian interests (both industry and government) within international agreements, particularly concerning the protection of intellectual property rights and e-commerce regulation.
In academia, she serves as a guest lecturer in undergraduate and postgraduate programs, such as the Undergraduate Degree in Global Business Management at Skema Business School and the Postgraduate course in International Law and Contract Law at CEDIN Educacional. She is also an author of scientific articles on intellectual property, including a book chapter organized by the World Trade Organization on the relationship between trade and knowledge dissemination, and a speaker at national and international events.
Luiza is the Chair of the International Bar Association's Trademark Committee and the Minas Gerais Sectional Representative of the Brazilian Intellectual Property Association (ABPI).
