Career
Ms. Song Huiyi is a partner at Han Kun Law Offices. She began her legal practice in 2014 at leading international and domestic law firms, where she developed extensive experience in capital markets and cross-border family matters. Her practice focuses on serving high-net-worth individuals—including entrepreneurs, founders, and investors—and their families. She provides comprehensive support in marriage and inheritance planning, integrated wealth management, risk prevention, and dispute resolution.
Ms. Song has assisted HNWI clients in establishing over 300 cross-border family trusts, family funds, and family offices. She has also provided legal support in numerous complex marriage and inheritance disputes, exceling particularly in cross-border family litigation. She has represented controlling shareholders of listed companies and their family members in resolving high-stakes property division disputes, demonstrating exceptional skill in formulating comprehensive strategies, tracing assets, and managing cross-border judicial proceedings—especially in cases involving parallel litigation across multiple jurisdictions.
In recent years, Ms. Song has deepened her expertise in Hong Kong-related family law services, positioning herself as one of the rare leading attorneys in the field with a dual background in corporate and family law, coupled with robust litigation and non-contentious capabilities. She is proficient in both Mainland China and Hong Kong legal systems and is trilingual in Mandarin, English, and Cantonese, enabling seamless communication with clients across jurisdictions.
In addition to her deep expertise in Hong Kong-related cross-border family services, Ms. Song Huiyi also possesses extensive experience in handling multi-jurisdictional cross border family and wealth planning matters. She has assisted clients in designing and implementing complex succession structures and resolving related disputes across various jurisdictions, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Singapore. Her work encompasses, but is not limited to, the establishment and planning of U.S. family trusts (such as FGTs, IDGTs, and GRATs), the structuring of Canadian grandmother trusts, cross border residency and tax coordination, as well as estate inheritance and cross border asset succession arrangements involving multiple legal systems. Leveraging her in depth understanding of different jurisdictional frameworks and practices, she is able to provide high net worth families with coordinated, compliant, and pragmatic integrated solutions, supporting clients in achieving smooth, secure, and inter-generational wealth transfer.
Over the past five years, Ms. Song has authored over a dozen professional articles on topics including marriage and family law, trusts, philanthropy, wealth management, and residency planning. Additionally, she serves as a long-term legal advisor to multiple charitable organizations and university foundations and acts as a trust protector for several charitable trusts.
