David Hammerman focuses on financial restructurings and chapter 11 reorganizations.
David represents various creditors, shareholders, sponsors, purchasers, financing sources, and distressed companies in all facets of the restructuring and reorganization process, including extensive work on out-of-court workouts. He also advises boards of directors and senior management of financially troubled companies on a range of issues, including fiduciary duties and corporate governance.
His work encompasses financing structures for troubled businesses, acquisitions of distressed assets, chapter 11 reorganizations, debt-to-equity conversions, and distressed exchanges. David's expansive transactional work has involved diverse industries, including oil and gas, healthcare, automotive, coal, retail, and manufacturing. He also regularly represents clients in cross-border matters.
David is a co-leader of the firm’s Bankruptcy Opinion Practice, a former member of the firm’s Training & Career Enhancement (TACE) Committee, and a member of the firm's Recruiting and Mentoring Committees. David is a member of the firm’s Pro Bono Committee and is an active participant in the pro bono program, representing Holocaust survivors in connection with various reparations programs.
David has experience in a wide range of corporate and finance matters. He has represented clients in connection with public and private financing transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and numerous real estate financing transactions.
