Alejandro Sanabria-Díaz is a Partner in the Tax practice at Pérez-Llorca, where he focuses on international taxation and corporate finance advisory. For nearly two decades he has advised national and international companies on the structuring of financial instruments including equity, debt, derivatives, and hybrids, as well as investment funds and international tax matters related to mergers and acquisitions, real estate transactions, private equity, and project financing.
Alejandro began his career in 2008 at PwC before moving to top-tier Colombian firms and later to Cuatrecasas in Barcelona, where he gained international experience. Joining Pérez-Llorca in 2015, he served as associate and senior associate before being named partner in 2024. He is ranked as Up and Coming by Chambers Latin America 2025, recognised as a Next Generation Partner by The Legal 500 2025 in Tax, and was named a Leading Lawyer in Leaders League 2025.
Alejandro is a member of the International Fiscal Association (IFA), Colombia Chapter, and of the International Bar Association (IBA). He completed a law degree from Universidad de La Sabana, Chia, and a specialisation in Taxation from Universidad de los Andes, Bogotá, later going on to complete a Master’s in Business and Corporate Law at Paris-Panthéon-Assas University in France and a Master’s in Corporate Finance & Law at ESADE Business School, Barcelona. He speaks Spanish, English, and French.
Alejandro has played a leading role in landmark tax structuring and reorganisation mandates. He advised on the reorganisation of the investment in Terranum Corporate Properties (TCP) and subsequently on the restructuring of Terranum and PEI Asset Management. He led the design and implementation of Atlas Renewable Energy’s investment structure in Colombia and its strategic alliance with Isagen, and advised Macquarie Capital on the tax structuring for its acquisition of the Briceño-Tunja-Sogamoso highway concession agreement. Alejandro has also counselled Sierracol, a leading independent oil producer, on tax risk analysis linked to the acquisition of exploration blocks previously owned by CEPSA Colombia. He regularly advises international banking institutions and energy companies on cross-border tax planning and complex corporate reorganisations.
