Bill is a patent attorney who helps clients build strong and enforceable portfolios, assert their rights in district courts and before the ITC, and create licensing or other arrangements to optimize value. As a former attorney advisor to Judge Paul J. Luckern at the ITC, he provides clients with an insider’s perspective on the federal agency.
Bill leads trial teams before the ITC and in courts throughout the U.S. in matters involving automotive technologies, consumer electronics, digital technologies, energy, life sciences, medical and dental technologies, photonics, and semiconductors, among others. His strategic counseling helps clients grow the value of their intellectual property while protecting their reputations and goodwill. Bill’s client relationships often span many years and major events such as multiple acquisitions, litigations, and licensing transactions.
Bill serves on the firm’s Policy Committee. He served as the chair of the Intellectual Property Department at predecessor firm Pepper Hamilton, and the Specialized Litigation Department at Troutman Pepper.
