VIJAY SEKHON is a partner in Sidley’s San Francisco and Century City offices and a member of the M&A, Private Equity, Capital Markets and Restructuring practice groups. His practice focuses on mergers, purchases, sales and reorganizations of businesses for companies and private equity and hedge funds. Vijay also focuses on public debt and equity offerings, private placements and purchases and sales of debt and equity, and general corporate and securities law, including advising companies and private equity and hedge funds on their disclosure obligations under the federal securities laws.

Vijay served as senior counsel in the Office of the General Counsel of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission from 2009 to 2011, and an adjunct professor at the University of Southern California Gould School of Law from 2014 to 2017. He was a judicial intern for former Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist in the United States Supreme Court and the Honorable Ellen Segal Huvelle in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. Vijay has published numerous articles related to law, business and finance in respected academic and practitioner journals, including the Stanford Journal of Law, Business & Finance, the Berkeley Business Law Journal, the Securities Regulation Law Journal, The Real Estate Finance Journal, Pratt’s Journal of Bankruptcy Law and the Review of Banking & Financial Law as well as a book titled Corporate Acquisitions and Mergers in the United States (Wolters Kluwer ed. 2022).
