COLLIN WEDEL is a partner in Sidley’s Los Angeles office and is a member of the Supreme Court and Appellate and Litigation practices. Collin regularly represents clients in the United States Supreme Court and throughout the federal and state appellate courts around the country, personally arguing several cases in the Ninth Circuit and in state supreme and appellate courts. Recently, Collin was part of Sidley appellate teams that won two cases in front of the California Supreme Court on the same day, setting new precedents about the recoverability of trial costs and the interpretation of non-disparagement agreements. Collin also recently argued and won an appeal in the Ninth Circuit that expanded the public’s right of access to governmental proceedings under the First Amendment.

Collin’s appellate and post-trial matters have addressed a range of questions including those involving constitutional and statutory interpretation, fintech regulation and banking laws, interstate comity conflicts, pharmaceutical products liability actions, lethal injection and death penalty litigation, foreign sovereign immunity claims, copyright and fair use issues, anti-SLAPP statutes, consumer fraud and false advertising claims, free speech and free exercise claims, abstention and federal jurisdiction, arbitration issues, false claims act cases, and class actions.
