Tom provides specialist commercial/IT law advice, focusing on the insurance and wider financial services sector.

In particular, Tom is sought out by clients for his in-depth experience and specialist knowledge of product distribution and outsourcing arrangements in the insurance industry, both in the Lloyd's and Companies Market.

As competition in the insurance market intensifies, participants are continually searching for new routes to market and ways to engage with and retain customers and drive efficiencies. Technology, innovation and the use of specialist third parties are increasingly at the heart of these developments – and Tom has been at the forefront of the industry's efforts in these areas, advising on some of the largest affinity partnership deals in the market, helping to establish the insurance as a utility distribution model and putting in place key and innovative insurance outsourcing arrangements.

During his time at the firm, Tom has undertaken a successful secondment to a well-known international insurance group and worked for global insurance clients in both the firm’s Dubai and London offices.

• Advising a leading online home insurance broker on its principal home insurance distribution arrangement with AXA

• Advising Age UK Enterprises on its new affinity insurance arrangement with Ageas

• Acting for Motability Operations on its £1.6bn fleet insurance policy with RSA

• Advising on a number of product distribution arrangements for Allianz, Allied World, Chubb, Markel and Partnership Life

• Advising on a number of third party syndicate management arrangements in the Lloyd's Market – including arrangements for Asta, China Re, ICAT, ProAssurance and Skuld
