Talya Hutchison, a senior associate based in the Washington, DC office, focuses her practice on international trade law and national security regulation and investigations. Multinational clients entrust her with their most pressing international trade problems, including impacts of economic sanctions issued by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC); compliance with export controls administered by the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) and the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC); and additional national security regulatory issues and investigations.
Talya regularly works with clients to obtain regulatory authorization from to engage in cross-border transactions involving export-controlled items or sanctioned jurisdictions. She has also drafted compliance policies related to export controls and economic sanctions. Beyond compliance advice, Talya assists companies with internal investigations of possible sanctions and export control violations, as well as with any voluntary self-disclosures to the relevant government agencies.
Talya received her JD in 2017 from The George Washington University Law School, with high honors. She served as the Senior Online Editor of The George Washington Law Review. Talya earned a BA in International Relations and Economics from New York University, cum laude, in 2012.
