Practice Areas

Sue is a child law specialist, in both public law and private law proceedings. She represents all parties including children, vulnerable adults, prospective adopters and local authorities, as well as extended family members. She has particular expertise in:

Serious injuries to children; infant death and near fatal injuries

Complex neglect/emotional abuse;
sexual abuse of children in which she has extensive experience of representing child and adult victims of inter-familial and/or inter-generational sex abuse, including as a leading junior

Fabricated illness and other complex medical injury cases

Complex private law proceedings in which she has extensive experience of representing Rule 16.4 Guardians. She also represents parents, adopters and special guardians and parties to forced marriage cases

Female Genital Mutilation – she was recently reported in Re M (Female Genital Mutilation Protection Order: No Order on Application) [2019] EWHC 527 (Fam)

Sue’s knowledge and approach to cases is enhanced by her substantial experience sitting as a tribunal judge, particularly in cases involving immigration, social security or human rights issues.
