Stephen Gill

Stephen M. Gill is an accomplished corporate lawyer who has extensive experience representing acquirers and targets involved in high-profile transactions across various industries, including energy, waste management, technology and health care. A go-to lawyer for oil and gas companies, he has counseled on some of the sector’s most significant deals in recent years.

Some of his notable representations include advising CrownRock in its $12 billon sale to Occidental, Denbury Inc. in its $4.9 billion sale to ExxonMobil, and Waste Management in its $7.2 billion acquisition of Stericycle.

In addition to his M&A work, Steve represents public companies with respect to securities law compliance, securities offerings, and corporate governance. He also advises public companies on matters relating to shareholder activism defense.

Widely recognized for his accomplishments, he has twice been named an Energy MVP by Law360, and was one of three finalists for Texas Lawyer’s 2018 Attorney of the Year. Steve is a member of the board of directors of the Performing Arts Houston.

Graduated from Louisiana State University, BA in 1998 and Tulane University, JD summa cum laude in 2001, where he served on the Tulane Law Review.
