Career

Sheryn Omeri KC has an outstanding international practice, advising and appearing in cases in the UK and Australia. Sheryn also advises on international criminal law, having previously worked at the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court. In her employment practice, Sheryn is instructed by employers and employees in the UK and Australia. Sheryn appeared in High Court proceedings on behalf of the defendant Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers in proceedings establishing that no duty of care is owed by trades unions to individual members in the context of collective bargaining. In her Australian employment practice, Sheryn acts for internationally-renowned Australian-British pianist, Jayson Gillham who was cancelled by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra after having expressed support for Palestinian journalists, and for a group of former employees of the prominent Swillhouse hospitality group subjected to a culture of extensive sexual and other harassment while working at its venues around Sydney.
