Career

Eleena specialises in complex, high value and high-profile employment and regulatory cases, in the healthcare and education sectors in particular. She is in demand with clients requiring strategic advice and representation across different issues and litigation such as in the Employment Tribunal, High Court and with a professional regulator. She has significant experience in dealing with appellate cases and lengthy, high-value, complex and sensitive discrimination claims. Eleena has an unusual combination of commercial acumen and public law experience which sees her instructed across the full spectrum of employment work and described as a ‘polymath’. Eleena is also qualified in Forensic Medicine and accepts instructions in medico-legal cases and inquests. She is easy to work with, holding a reputation for being robust but intuitive in court. Eleena has been instructed in several highly confidential and sensitive cases involving well-known individuals in recent times.

Recent cases of note include the High Court employment challenges in Calle & Ors v Prime Minister and IWGB & Ors v HM Treasury concerning Brexit and COVID-19 respectively, and Agarwal v Cardiff University & Anor in which the jurisdiction to construe contracts was clarified by the Court of Appeal. Eleena was also instructed in the high profile Harry Richford inquest.
