She specialises in employment law, most notably discrimination, equal pay, protected disclosures, and victimisation, representing both claimants and respondents. She is the author of Equal Pay - Law and Practice.
She has acted for thousands of women in mass equal pay claims against local authorities, including Birmingham, Glasgow, Redcar & Cleveland, Middlesbrough and North Lanarkshire and in the test case on the NHS's pay structure. She currently acts for thousands of claimants against the Co-Op Food Stores and recently persuaded the ET in Dundee that various job evaluations carried out by Fife Council could not be relied upon, opening the door to thousands of equal value claims. She advised firms of solicitors on equal pay disputes involving partners and employees.
In her discrimination and protected disclosure practice, she acts for employers and employees in all kinds of claims, including for BNP Paribas in a multi-million pound claim by an employee and against Royal Bank of Canada
She conducted an investigation into allegations of sexual harassment and discrimination at the BMA. Most recently, she investigated grievances brought against the CEO of a local authority and by a director of a well-known company alleging other directors had concocted allegations of gross misconduct and an allegation of sexual harassment against a senior solicitor.
