Shannon Varner regularly advises clients on a wide range of environmental issues. Representing members of the environmental mitigation industry, he has an extensive practice in the creation, expansion, and utilization of market-based approaches to environmental compliance including water quality trading programs and stream, wetland, and nutrient mitigation banking. He also facilitates property transactions for developers, purchasers, and lenders by handling due diligence matters, wetland and stormwater permitting, cultural resource issues and risk reduction and allocation of liabilities through brownfield and voluntary remediation programs, transactional documents, environmental insurance, and other mechanisms. Shannon also prepares and advocates for environmental market, water supply and other environmental related legislative and regulatory initiatives to promote his clients’ objectives.
