Sy Damle focuses his practice on high-stakes copyright litigation, counseling, and regulatory matters, representing a wide range of blue-chip technology and new media companies. As a trained engineer and former software developer, Mr. Damle has particular insight into software infringement and other high-technology matters, but has also earned a reputation as a highly accomplished music industry lawyer.

Career

Mr. Damle joined Latham after serving as General Counsel and Associate Register of Copyrights at the US Copyright Office. Previously, Mr. Damle served as a litigator in the Civil Division of the Department of Justice (DOJ). Mr. Damle serves as an advisor to the American Law Institute’s Restatement of Copyright Law project, teaches copyright law at the George Washington University Law School, is a member of the Copyright Society of the USA, and serves on the board of the Edward Coke Appellate Inn of Court.
