Decades of experience in commercial, environmental, toxic tort, and products litigation. Representative matters include defeating TRO filed in federal court in Chicago for public client that would have stopped a $7.5 billion sale of 89 subsidiaries in 20 states; obtained multi-million jury verdict for client in breach of contract case concerning inspection, acceptance, cooking, and packaging of industrial quantities of poultry; arbitrated case for public client related to breach of contract and default under pledge agreement securing multi-million damages as well as award of attorneys’ fees; defended community-wide groundwater contamination cases at two different sites against lawsuits brought by dozens of plaintiffs, the city and county, and State; national coordinating counsel for target benzene defendant for eight years; secured dismissal of competitor’s theft of trade secrets claim and subsequently obtained $147 million settlement for client’s counterclaims; Fifth Circuit affirmed summary judgment granted public company and CEO clients against claims by president of subsidiary terminated for cause; others trials and arbitrations related to accounting malpractice, derivative action related to formation of bank holding company, and fraud related to telecom IPO. Also is experienced mediator and arbitrator, licensed CPA, and 2022 and 2023 BTI Client Service All-Star.
