Career

Nadiya is a partner in the Brussels office of Jones Day, heading the Firm's international trade practice. With more than 25 years of experience in leading international law firms, and prior service in the WTO Secretariat, she has advised clients across Brussels, Washington D.C. and Geneva.

Widely recognised as a leading authority on WTO and international trade law, Nadiya represents multinational corporations and governments in trade disputes and arbitrations. She advises on the EU's free trade agreements, with partners including Canada, Japan, Korea and the UK, and assesses the consistency of national regulations with international trade obligations. Her practice encompasses tariffs, rules of origin and trade remedies, defending and pursuing anti-dumping, countervailing duty and safeguard matters before the European Commission and international tribunals.

Nadiya has extensive experience in EU and UN sanctions, export controls and licensing across multiple EU Member States. She counsels clients on extraterritorial sanctions and export restrictions, conducts compliance audits, and assists in designing compliance programmes. She also advises on emerging frameworks including the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and supply chain due diligence under the CSDDD.

Nadiya is an experienced lecturer in international trade law and trade compliance.
