Michelle Scheffler is a partner in Skadden's Houston office and counsels energy clients in high-stakes litigation matters. Michelle is at the forefront of some of the most important disputes facing energy clients today and is barred in multiple oil and gas producing jurisdictions. She is sought out for both her courtroom skills and her strategic thinking. Michelle represents major integrated oil and gas companies, privately-owned independents, equity investors, and midstream companies, in a wide range of matters including cases arising under operating agreements, lease termination disputes, mass and class action royalty litigation, complex title disputes, and midstream disputes. Michelle takes a common-sense, business-oriented approach to each case whether it requires a strongly-negotiated settlement, or the aggressive defense or prosecution of her client’s claims. Her experience continues to be recognized by clients and colleagues and she has been named a Texas Super Lawyer and was recently honored by Law360 as one of the nation’s top energy attorneys under 40 for 2021, a recognition given to only five lawyers nationwide.
