Michael White

Practice Areas

Michael practises principally in employment, commercial, information and public law. He is regularly instructed in disputes across the full spectrum of employment law, including to act unled in complex, multi-day trials of whistleblowing and discrimination allegations. He is frequently instructed in High Court proceedings involving team moves, restrictive covenants and confidential information, and has appeared before the courts of the Qatar Financial Centre and (unled) in the Employment Appeal Tribunal.

Outside of employment law, Michael has acted in: high-profile data-protection litigation for clients including the Labour Party; numerous FOIA matters for the Information Commissioner, including (unled) in the Upper Tribunal; high-value contractual disputes; and a number of reported judicial review cases, including before the Court of Appeal. Michael’s clients have included individual employees, sportspeople, major international financial institutions, multi-national technology companies and central government.

Career

Called to the Bar in 2018. Before coming to the Bar, Michael spent six months as a ‘stagiaire’ in Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer’s international arbitration team in Paris, and worked as a consultant in the Legal Office of the United Nations World Food Programme in Rome.
