Michael Scodro

An accomplished litigator and appellate advocate, Michael A. Scodro has argued dozens of cases in federal and state supreme and appellate courts, including three in the US Supreme Court.

Prior to joining Mayer Brown from another prominent firm, Michael spent more than six years as the Illinois Solicitor General, where he oversaw the civil and criminal appeals divisions of the Attorney General’s Office and advised the Attorney General on constitutional and other significant legal issues. As Solicitor General, he also coordinated with the offices of other state attorneys general in the preparation of multi-state amicus briefs for filing in the US Supreme Court and brought Illinois to the forefront of the states in this area of Supreme Court advocacy.
